Lunchroom Fight II OR
How to "fix" what's wrong with history.
During the previous three weeks, students have been considering what is "wrong" with history; namely that the recording of the past is incomplete and imperfect due to human limitation. We simply cannot record all past events, and what we do record is imperfect because our perceptions and perspectives are imperfect. This week, we will begin to look at how historians evaluate records in order to select the most accurate and reliable evidence in order to draw conclusions that are the most plausible.
LUNCHROOM FIGHT II From The Stanford History Education Group
"This lesson builds on our popular Lunchroom Fight activity. While the first Lunchroom Fight focuses specifically on sourcing, this lesson requires students to evaluate evidence by sourcing, contextualizing, and corroborating different eyewitness accounts. This lesson introduces historical thinking skills through engaging students to build a case for who started a fight in the lunchroom."
Students who were absent, can download and print the document below. Parents will need to assist if this is done at home. The teacher's guide is included. Please be sure to see the instructions for vocabulary words directly below the document.
